At Parkland Players we love reading! We have even started our own “library” for teachers and children to borrow books from. We think that fostering a love of literacy is a very important task for educators and for parents.
And for that reason we like this article by flavorwire.com listing 50 books every parent should read to their children.
Some of our favourites from the list are:
- Where the Wild Things Are, Maurice Sendak
- The Paper Bag Princess, Robert N. Munsch
- The Very Hungry Caterpillar, Eric Carle
- Goodnight Moon, Margaret Wise Brown
- The Giving Tree, Shel Silverstein
- Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day, Judith Viorst
- The Tale of Peter Rabbit, Beatrix Potter
- Clifford the Big Red Dog. Norman Bridwell
- The Invention of Hugo Cabret, Brian Selznick
- The Wizard of Oz, L. Frank Baum
- Curious George, H.A. Rey
